My Role: Architectural Design, Structural Drawings, Shop drawings, Site Supervision, Procurement, Contracts.
Exterior Materials: San Francisco Cobble Stone Base. Locally milled redwood, 1-1/4" x 5-3/4" battens.
Copper base between stone and redwood. Fleetwood aluminum doors and windows. Corrugated Metal
Roof.
Interior: Exposed T&G structural ceiling with furniture white-wash paint.
Exposed Glulam joists with designed hardware. Integral color structural
slab on grade, polished, sealed. Mild steel stair rail with Gun-Blue and
Beeswax Finish. Cedar interior trim.
Green-ness: no on-site construction trash collection. Scrap lumber used for wood-burning hot tub. All metal recycled.
All extra hardware returned to supplier. Extra drywall tilled into the soil. Plastic containers, glues, etc in landfill.
New native plants for landscaping directly transplanted from neighboring ranch.
Denim Insulation. Solar in-floor hydronic heat.
Very tight grained "Cull" redwood, e.g. the redwood rejected from the mills (usually because of center rot) and
rough-sawn in a backyard mill operation.
